THE LOT THAT SAVED CHRISTMAS
Why we do what we do. The Ruritan motto is to make our community a better place in which to live through FELLOWSHIP, GOODWILL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE.
Our last customer at the tree lot tonight came in with her family to purchase a Christmas tree. After selecting and paying for her tree, while it was being secured on top of her van she told us the following story:
Two years ago they had bought a Christmas tree from a different tree lot. She had just lost her job and two days before Christmas the tree became severely infested with bugs. While her family removed the decorations she when out desperately trying to find a replacement tree…two days before Christmas. All of the tree lots were closed for the year. Someone at Southern States told that the Midlothian Ruritan Club had a tree lot in the village on Mt Pisgah Drive. She came to where our lot had been and of course we also were closed for the year.
There was one lone unsold tree laying at the side of the lot that we had planned to dispose of after Christmas. Some construction workers who were working across the street at Mt. Pisgah UMC helped load it onto her car. Elated she took it home to her family. Therefore she told us that the Midlothian Ruritan Club Christmas Tree Lot will for her family forever be THE LOT THAT SAVED CHRISTMAS!
